Synopsis

Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:

1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.

No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.

But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

★.5

I freaking LOVED this book, I couldn’t put it down and was left feeling excited by the end. Tricia Levenseller is a master at slow burn romance. The Shadows Between Us is a quick paced fun read full of deception, women empowerment, friendship and of course romance.

The main character Alessandra is a bad ass, total badass. She lifts women up and encourages them to push back against the societal norms. She’s completely accepting and loving of herself and her body. She goes for what she wants and doesn’t stop, she’s committed and fierce. Such a fantastic character.

Kallais, The Shadow King is everything you’re looking for in a dark mysterious love interest. The two characters together, Kallais and Alessandra and flawed, evil, power hungry and absolutely perfect for each other. Talk about SLOW BURN romance. Loved it.

I loved almost everything in this book but I would have liked a bit more world building, I didn’t really get a feel of the kingdoms or the castle and also the magic was a bit unclear.  But other than that *chefs kiss* perfect.

If you’re looking for a book with a badass scheming main character who is empowering, bold and intelligent, you’ll love Alessandra. The book is full of secrets, assassins, romance, friendship and deception
